Hearing Aid Maintenance & Repair
Hearing aids are sophisticated electronic devices, but like most electronics, they can encounter issues and problems that need to be solved to work properly. Problems range from limited/distorted sound to the presence of feedback to not turning on at all.
Before taking them repairs, you can try to troubleshoot your hearing aids on your own. Here's how:
- Inspect the hearing aids: Inspect the devices thoroughly and remove any dirt, wax, or other substances which may serve as a barrier to sound.
- Ensure it is switched on: It seems simple, but make sure your devices are actually turned on! Bear in mind that the door that holds the battery in place must be locked; if it doesn't close, reinsert the battery and then try to turn the unit on.
- Remove the battery: Test the battery to see if it is dead and replace it with a new one.
- Check the volume: Raise and lower the volume to ensure you can detect sound changes.
