Hearing Aid Repair & Maintenance

Hearing aids are sophisticated electronic devices, but like most electronics, they can encounter issues and problems that need to be solved to work properly. Problems range from limited/distorted sound to the presence of feedback to not turning on at all.

Before making hearing aid repairs, you can try to troubleshoot your hearing aids on your own. Here's how:

  • Inspect the hearing aids: Inspect the devices thoroughly and remove any dirt, wax, or other substances which may serve as a barrier to sound.
  • Ensure it is switched on: It seems simple, but make sure your devices are actually turned on! Bear in mind that the door that holds the battery in place must be locked; if it doesn't close, reinsert the battery and then try to turn the unit on.
  • Remove the battery: Test the battery to see if it is dead and replace it with a new one.
  • Check the volume: Raise and lower the volume to ensure you can detect sound changes.
