Before You Go In
When you arrive at Revolution Hearing, you will fill out a brief health history form. This covers things like any history of ear infections, noise exposure, medications you take, and when you first started noticing changes in your hearing. This information helps your audiologist understand the full picture — not just the test results, but the context around them.
What Happens During the Evaluation
The audiologist will start by looking into your ears with a small lighted instrument called an otoscope. This simply checks for anything visible like earwax buildup or signs of infection that might be affecting your hearing.
Then you will move into a sound-treated booth or a specially designed room. You will put on headphones and listen for tones at different pitches and volumes, pressing a button each time you hear something. This is called a pure tone audiometry test, and it maps out your hearing threshold — the softest sounds you can reliably detect across the range of human speech.
Your audiologist will also test how well you understand words at different volumes, since hearing clarity matters as much as volume sensitivity.
The whole evaluation typically takes 45 minutes to an hour.
What You Learn Afterward
After the evaluation, your audiologist will sit down with you and go over your results using a simple chart called an audiogram. Think of it like a map of your hearing. Together you will look at which sounds are coming through clearly and where the gaps are.
If everything looks fine, great. You leave with peace of mind. If hearing loss is present, your audiologist will explain what it means for your day-to-day life and what options exist. There is no pressure, no hard sell. You get information and you decide what to do with it.
Bringing Someone With You
