Does Medicare Advantage Cover Hearing Aids? What You Need to Know

You worked hard for those Medicare benefits, and figuring out what they actually cover for your hearing should not feel like another full-time job.

Here is the good news: most Medicare Advantage plans do include some level of hearing coverage, and that coverage has expanded significantly in recent years. The tricky part is knowing what your specific plan includes and how to use it before the calendar year resets.

What Original Medicare Does Not Cover

Original Medicare (Parts A and B) does not cover hearing aids or routine hearing evaluations. That has been the case for decades, and it leaves many people paying out of pocket or simply going without. Medicare Advantage plans (Part C), however, are sold by private insurance companies and are required to offer at least the same coverage as original Medicare — and many choose to go further.

Most Medicare Advantage plans now include an annual hearing benefit that can range from a few hundred dollars toward hearing aids all the way up to full coverage for certain devices. Some plans also cover the cost of your hearing evaluation entirely.

How to Find Out What Your Plan Covers

The fastest approach is to call the member services number on the back of your insurance card and ask three direct questions: Does my plan include a hearing benefit? What is the dollar amount or device coverage? And do I need a referral to see an audiologist?

At Revolution Hearing, we accept Medicare Advantage and work directly with many of the major plans serving Indiana, Ohio, Virginia, and New York. Our team can verify your benefits before your appointment so you walk in knowing exactly what to expect, with no surprises at checkout.

Use Your Benefit Before It Expires

Most Medicare Advantage hearing benefits reset on January 1 each year. If you have not used yours, that money does not roll over. Many patients come to us in November and December realizing they had coverage all year and did not act on it.

Getting a hearing evaluation is the logical first step. It takes about an hour, it is not painful, and it tells you exactly where you stand. If hearing aids are recommended, you will have the information you need to make a smart decision about your coverage and your options.

Schedule a hearing evaluation at any Revolution Hearing location in Indiana, Ohio, Virginia, or New York. We will confirm your Medicare Advantage benefits before you arrive.
