If you’ve been putting off treating your hearing loss because of cost, you’re not alone. One of the most common questions we hear at Revolution Hearing is this: “Does my Medicare Advantage plan cover hearing aids?”
The short answer is: it depends on your plan. But many Medicare Advantage plans do include hearing benefits, and Revolution Hearing accepts all Medicare Advantage plans at every one of our locations.
Original Medicare vs. Medicare Advantage
Standard Medicare, Parts A and B, does not cover hearing aids or routine hearing exams. That surprises a lot of people who’ve paid into the system for decades and assumed their hearing care would be included.
Medicare Advantage plans, also called Part C, are private insurance plans approved by Medicare that replace original Medicare coverage and often include extra benefits not found in traditional Medicare. Hearing care is one of those extras.
What Medicare Advantage hearing benefits look like
Every Medicare Advantage plan is different, but many include:
- Annual hearing assessments at no cost or low cost
- An allowance toward hearing aids, often ranging from $500 to $2,000 per ear, per year
- Coverage for fittings, adjustments, and follow-up care
- Discounts on certain hearing aid brands or through approved provider networks
The specific benefit depends on the plan you enrolled in and where you live. Some plans offer a flat dollar amount. Others work through a network of preferred providers and apply discounts to approved devices.
Medicare Advantage hearing benefits also reset annually. If you have unused benefits and the year is ending, that’s a strong reason to schedule your hearing assessment before December 31.
How to check your coverage
Call the member services number on the back of your insurance card. Ask specifically about your hearing aid benefit for the current year, including any dollar limits and whether you need to see an in-network provider.
You can also bring your insurance card to your appointment at Revolution Hearing. Our team will verify your benefits before your visit and walk you through exactly what your plan covers before you commit to anything.
Revolution Hearing accepts all Medicare Advantage plans
No matter which plan you’re on, we’ll work with it. We offer hearing technology at all price levels, from basic to the most advanced options on the market. Our goal is to match you with the right hearing aid for your lifestyle and your budget, not the most expensive one on the shelf. That’s the transparent, honest approach we bring to every patient.
What if my plan has limited coverage
If your plan offers a smaller benefit, or if you’re on original Medicare with no hearing coverage at all, you still have options. We work with patients every day to find solutions that fit every budget. Flexible financing is also available if you’d like to spread the cost over time.
We will never push you toward technology you don’t need. Our job is to help you hear better.
The real cost of waiting
Studies have consistently linked untreated hearing loss to cognitive decline and a higher risk of dementia. Every year without treatment is a year of missed conversations, growing social withdrawal, and real risk to long-term brain health. Cost confusion is a solvable problem. We’d rather help you figure out your benefits than watch you wait another year.
